I am still offering the amazing deal of a custom, exclusive skin design, for the amazingly low donation of $50, but I must be honest and tell you that the recent changes to the way Mojo skins are made have quite defeated my efforts at creating any new skins.  However, I am still quite capable of making color changes to existing Mojo skins -- the ones that come bundled with Mojo when you install it.  Also creating and editing graphics, if needed -- by changing colors and editing graphics, I can offer a custom, exclusive design.

Although some of my family's financial desperation has eased, things are still far from solvent, so donating would be doing a solid not just for me, but for all those who benefit from free Mojo skins -- thankfully it is a little while till I need to renew my hosting, but when I do need to, if the money isn't there, then I just can't, and the site will go -- if I don't receive enough donations to support it.

I'm still trying to figure out all these changes with the skin structure, so hopefully, eventually, I'll get it and be able to make some more new designs.  If you like one of the existing free designs offered here, I'm sorry to tell you that they may not work as expected with recent versions of Mojo; I think they'll work with Mojo versions up to about 2.3.6.5, but not much later than that; this site is running 2.3.6.7, and I see a lot of oddities with how my skins are rendered.  I am planning to install the latest version (as of this writing, 12/21/11), which I think is version 2.3.7.0, so god only knows what will happen to the skins then.

Anyway -- please, please donate, so this site can stay alive and thrive -- and Happy Holidays, whatever your religio-cultural persuasion.

Update - 07/25/11

Monday, July 25, 2011 10:35:00 PM

I updated the site today, to the new version 2.3.6.7 of Mojo, and you will probably note how odd the site's skin looks; there have clearly been changes to the pertinent CSS, so I will have to come up with a new skin that takes all these changes into acct.

This probably also means that the downloadable skins will look funky when used with 2.3.6.7, though they should still work fine up to version 2.3.6.5 -- that's what I was running up until this present update, and they all looked ok.

You should take this to mean that I do intend to renew my ASP.NET hosting, thanks to a couple of donators, but you should not take that to mean that my financial emergency is solved -- in fact, it's worse:  our landlady is filing bankruptcy, so she may lose this house that we're renting, requiring us to move in as little as 5 weeks, and we have no clue where to go, we have almost no money for taking such a drastic step as a move, and we are even concerned about how we are going to keep our family together, so please, please, if you care at all about free Mojoportal skins or have any compassion in your heart, please scroll up and click that donate button, and please, be generous.

Older Scribbles

Thursday, July 14, 2011 10:35:00 AM

Although I do prefer the blog-style posts, I felt the time had come to archive those older posts which most won't care about and which were previously taking a great deal of space here on the front page.  The posts are archived in case there are any odd souls like me who do like to read an entire site.

Updating Site: 06/13/11

Now that Artisteer 3.0 is in "full release," rather than beta or RC, there is a lot more support in MojoPortal for creating skins with it. I am going to be updating this site to the newest release of Mojo (2.3.6.6) this week, and then working on converting some of the recent designs I've done with Artisteer 3.0 into the Mojo format. So if you see anything odd going on here this week, that's why -- don't freak out; any difficulties will be ironed out ASAP, and soon there will be a slew of new Mojo skins for download.

Recent Activities: 05/17/11

Ok, I do realize this is primarily a MojoPortal site, but I did want to note that I have finally gotten the DotNetNuke skins online for download; I've resolved a problem I was having with DNN, so I'm going to spend a bit more time developing some of my existing designs for use with DNN. It's a bit... unwieldy? but actually not a bad CMS once you get the hang of it. Has a few really cool features/quirks, so I enjoy playing with it, trying to puzzle it out.

Not to worry, though; some of the designs I've done recently for Joomla 1.6 and DotNetNuke will be converted to Mojo skins eventually, probably sooner rather than later.

Long time no type! : 05/14/11

You probably thought I had disappeared, but not so; I've simply been so hectically busy with so many other things, I had no time to post or create new Mojo skins, but I've had my eye on things, and a couple of Mojo users know that I really do respond to email, if you need support for one of my skins -- that contact link up there in the menu actually works. Or, there is the forum, which will also notify me if anyone posts, looking for some assistance with one of my skins.

Anyhow, I've been busy with the "other side" of things; a new version of Joomla! came out and I had to jump on that wagon, plus there is a new version of Artisteer that does all kinds of amazing things, so I had to work on that stuff for a while. I see there is now a newer version of MojoPortal, which also does a lot of new amazing things (like it wasn't amazing enough already!); I've just updated this site to the latest version of Mojo (2.3.6.5 as of this writing, 9pm Saturday night, 05/14), and I'll be posting some new stuff, so, you've been warned -- Stay Tuned!

Updates: 01/28/11

Just finished updating the site to the newest version of Mojo, 2.3.6.1, just out yesterday, with a lot of new features and improvements.

Right now, the skins are updated to Mojo version 2.3.5.8b, but I will be working on a new release of them all, which will provide for the new features in 2.3.6.1 (some new CSS). I'll try to have new releases of them all within a week.

Aside from that, I'm currently working on translating all my Joomla! templates/Mojo skins into DotNetNuke skins. I had initially thought to have an entirely self-contained DNN site for that purpose, but DNN is just so lame compared to Mojo, that my DNN site will be strictly for the purpose of DNN skin demos; setting up download files in DNN is just a huge pain in the... er, neck, that's the ticket, and what's more, DNN has no internal means of "keep alive," so after the site has been purged from the application pool, the next time someone "hits" it, it has to load the entire application from disk -- that is just completely unsat. So all the DNN skin downloads will be here, in a category of their own. If you want to view the DNN skin demos, the URL for that is over there in the sidebar under "CrypticDNN", but be warned, the site will be slow to load, because of that totally inane lack of internal "keep alive."

Yep, it's absolutely clear: Mojo rules.

Skins Updated: 12/20/10

Updates to the free skins are 90% complete; there are 9 free skins available, soon to be 10. A few of the others are being converted to value-added premium templates, but that is still in the works, and my cable co's connection to the internet going south yesterday didn't help at all. It seems to be working alright at the moment (crossing fingers, knock wood).

In the past I've depended on the "comments" area to offer support for the skins, but it seems so impersonal, so I've setup a forum on the "Mojo Skins" main page. Any comments, questions, or feedback on the skins will be most welcome, and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have, or whatever support you may need to get the most value from the skins -- Mojo is great, ain't it?! After 2 years of Joomla's ass, oops, I mean, back-end, MojoPortal is like a dream come true. Of course you will need to register, to use the forum, but hey, that's pretty much S.O.P. at any forum.

I'm still looking for inspiration, suggestions, whatever may come to mind to want in a skin that you can't find already; I can't promise that it's all possible, but I'm always looking for good ideas. Let me hear from you!

Mojo Updated: 12/17/10

As forecast in my last post, Mojo has just been updated, to version 2.3.5.8. Note- 12/17/10: A further update, to v2.3.5.8b, was just released -- you'll need it if you want to do anything with a forum.

I've just finished with the update to this site, so all my skins in the "Updated Free Mojo Skins" page are updated to version 2.3.5.8 -- I'm still in the process of getting them updated, so please be patient; I'll have them all updated and re-posted very soon. As mentioned, if you can't wait, you can find the original skins either at http://mojo.crypticsites.net (for a limited time), or, you can also find them here, in the "Originals" page.

Welcome: 12/01/10

Welcome to the new location of CrypticSites.NET, the home of MojoPortal skins. I've relocated from the subdomain, mojo.crypticsites.net, to try and help folks find the site better. You'll also note a few small differences in the site's design, mainly just a freshening-up; the original skin will soon be available for download, including the ASP.NET control to run the rotating banners in the header.

You might also note that the site is a bit faster, thanks mostly to being hosted now on Arvixe. I strongly recommend them for hosting any CMS, but particularly if you're running MojoPortal -- they'll even install it for you, to get you started, which is awesome, because MojoPortal is really easy for web-beginners to use to setup a great website.

I'm in the process of bringing all my skins up-to-date for the newest version of MojoPortal, which, at the moment, is v2.3.5.5, but will no doubt be updated soon. Most of the skins still look ok in the newer version, but there have been a few additions to Mojo that I need to take into account for the skins, which were created under version 2.3.4.3 -- stand by, they'll be here soon. If you're in a hurry for skins, you can still find them at http://mojo.crypticsites.net, for a limited time (till I get them all into this site!).
